Dear Parents and Guardians
Thank you for wanting to book a place for your child on our After School Comedy Club at Brookburn Primary.
Comedy Club runs from 3.30pm - 4.30pm on Fridays and is held in the main hall (more info on this and where to collect in our Venue notes section above).
SAVING MY NUMBER PLEASE:
Please can you save my mobile number in your phones 07793 956228 so that I am able to send you a group WhatsApp message should I need to send a general message to parents / guardians of Comedy Club students. You will only receive this if you have my number saved.
Once you have made a booking, you will receive an email confirming this booking, so please look out for this. If you have not received it then you may find it in your junkmail - in which case we ask that you mark it as safe.
BOOKING AND PROFILE ON CLASS FOR KIDS:
If you have not done so already please create a profile (or make sure your profile is updated re medical and permission to walk home etc).
Please have a read through all the information below and then scroll down to the bottom where you press where it says: Book this class.
FEES:
Payments are made for a full term and work out at £7 per session plus a small transaction fee that Stripe and Class for kids receive. Big Comedy Shop do not take any of this fee.
Here is all the information you need to know about Big Comedy Shop, including our terms and conditions and refund policy.
FACILITATORS:
Comedy Club will be run by a member of the Big Comedy Shop team.
I will share the numbers of our team before the start of each term.
GETTING TO AND COLLECTION FOR COMEDY CLUB:
Please see under the Venue notes section above to read details about where exactly Comedy Club is held and where to collect your children from.
SNACKS:
At the beginning of every session, we allow students to have a snack that they have brought from home so please do provide if you feel your child will need one. We ask that this be a small snack that does not take long to eat rather than a sandwich or something more substantial please. We also ask that you try and avoid sugary snacks so we don't get any sugar highs! We have a no nuts policy so as to avoid any issues with allergies.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- Your booking is not confirmed until payment has been received. Paid for spaces will be given priority.
- Big Comedy Shop or any of our team are not responsible for any loss or injury during the class.
- Big Comedy Shop reserve the right to remove from our course, without refund, anyone who is found to be bullying, misbehaving, or displaying disruptive behaviour on a regular basis.
- You must declare all medical conditions during registration and keep us up to date should this change by updating your Class for kids profile and also emailing ali@bigcomedyshop.com or calling Ali on 07793 956228.
- You must declare if you do not give permission for your child to be photographed / filmed for marketing use and keep us up-to-date should this change using the given email address or phone number.
- Collection of Children from Clubs: Activities are planned for the full duration of Comedy Club; sessions will often end with some ‘tidy-up’ time, therefore parents are asked not to collect their child early unless by pre-arrangement or in exceptional circumstances.
- Parents / Guardians should ensure prompt collection of their children at the end of an After School Comedy Club from the assigned collection point.
-Please get in touch via phone if you know you will be running late. Phone numbers of all our facilitators are available on the class description page.
-Children who are not collected on time will be taken to the school office. If the school office is closed at this time as is the case with some schools of course our team will wait with your child - however there may be some occasions where a team member has to leave for another commitment at which point they would have to leave your child with another member of staff and message you to inform you.
- If children are routinely collected late from After School Comedy Club, parents will be contacted to discuss the situation. Continued late pick-up may result in a parent being informed that their child is unable to attend a club.
BIG COMEDY SHOP’S REFUND POLICY:
We understand that plans change, so please review the following information before registering so you're aware of your commitment to Big Comedy Shop.
We use class registrations to predict whether a class will happen or not, so last-minute student cancellations can impact other students enrolled in the session as well as our facilitators who are planning to teach.
We've created the policies below to be fair to everyone involved:
- We don't issue refunds for missed sessions due to your own circumstances.
- If a session needs to be cancelled on the day itself for example due to the unexpected illness of the club facilitator, we will notify the school and parents /guardians as soon as possible and will do our best to offer either an added session or a refund for the session missed.
- We can only offer a full refund if you cancel your registration more than 14 days before the first session of a new term.
- For new students only if after your child’s first session of a new course if you wish to cancel your registration within 7 days of them starting Comedy Club, we offer a 50% refund for the remainder of the term. After 7 days I am afraid no refund is possible. This allows us to keep facilitators in work.
- Should the school shut and we are unable to hold Comedy Club due to a teacher's strike day, we will either make up the time lost or a refund can be arranged.
BEHAVIOUR POLICY:
Comedy Club is a heavily interactive activity that is based on working in pairs and as part of a group and therefore how children behave and treat one another is imperative to the success of our sessions.
Children with SEN and additional needs:
We will always try and be as inclusive as we can be at Comedy Club, however our facilitators are not specialised in working with SEN children. If your child has SEN or any behavioural issues, we ask that you please inform us on their Class for Kids profile in as much detail as possible and that we can arrange a chat about your child before the start of a term to gain an insight and understanding of your child’s needs. If there are no details under this section but a note is made to your child having SEN, we will be in touch for a chat as this will need to be updated. Our aim is to be as well equipped as we can be to try and meet your child's needs within our capabilities.
Class Disruption:
At Comedy Club there is a warning system that is used and starts a fresh every week. If a child is given a warning they are told why and this is noted. If a second warning is given in the same session they are again informed why the warning has been given and then will be asked to take 5 minutes out to reflect on their behaviour and have some perhaps needed time out within the room. They will also be informed that this will be spoken about with a parent or guardian. Should a third warning be given in a session another 5 minutes of reflection is asked for and then as well as a parent / guardian being informed we will also make their school teacher aware.
This warning system is told to students at the start of each term and regularly referred to throughout sessions so the group know what to expect if needed to be implemented.
After one or two sessions, Big Comedy Shop facilitators will contact our director Ali and notify of any students struggling with behaviour in Comedy Club.
Examples of class disruption are students who are severely off task, bothering other students, being too noisy, etc.
We will contact you regarding the situation so you can address the issue with your child. After that, if a behaviour issue continues, we will contact you regarding withdrawal from the class and a partial refund (50% of what is left of the term).
Extreme and physical behaviour:
In the case of extreme physical behaviour toward another class member or facilitator (fighting, screaming, etc), your child would need to be removed from our sessions with no refund.
We thank you for your understanding on this.
HOLIDAY CLUBS:
Big Comedy Shop runs Holiday Comedy Club Days that are available over the Summer Holidays and every half term and Easter break (except Christmas).
Please make sure you answer the question letting us know if you would like to receive info on these Holiday Clubs.
